«The theme of bookrests and music stands has always been dear to us. It is a topic that has aroused the creativity of many designers, who have devised wooden objects often with brilliant results in terms of ingeniousness and elegance of detail. However, and without wishing to overstress the point, it can be said that these articles exude an air of the sacristy, of the convent or of holy places in general, when what we were looking for was a more profane item on which to place a fine volume by Skira, or the opened pages of Playboy, or a recipe book. We thus went for reflections of shiny steel that alter under the light, which we then shaped it into a wave-like finish, just like a flame. Nothing could be less heavenly and more devilish. And of course, “the flame is beautiful”. It’s in Italian literature». Donato D’Urbino and Paolo Lomazzi
